Penny Pinching

In today's economy, penny pinching is vital for the survival of many families. When my husband was forced into a disability retirement because of injuries he sustained in a combat-related helicopter crash, his income was cut in half. He is no longer able to hold down a job because he has too many days that he is unable to get out of bed, so he cannot bring in extra money that way. I had to quit my job to take care of him, so my only income is what the VA pays me to help him and contract jobs I do from home. This change in income meant that I had to learn to pinch pennies so I could feed my family and so we could still afford to enjoy some things in life. I have become a couponer, extreme budgeter, and bargain shopper, and this page is where I will list all links to posts where I am passing the information along to you. Good luck!

I am linking this to my Penny Pinching and Crafting pages because it fits both categories. We needed some new furniture for our house, but we didn't need to spend the money. We found an old barn that was falling down, contacted the owners, and were able to get some of the wood and tin for free. We used some scrap wood at our house for the inner frame, and we had to buy a little bit to supplement the frame. Other than that, the only money we spent was for the door/drawer pulls, and I bought them at Hobby Lobby for 50% off. All toll we have about $35 or $40 in this piece of furniture, and we could sell it for at least 20 times that amount.
